How to Start a RedM Server

Updated 2026-08-22

The practical steps to get a RedM roleplay server online — choosing a plan, ordering, uploading resources and going live.

To start a RedM server you need a hosting plan, the RedM server software installed, and your resources (frameworks like VORP or RedEM) uploaded. With NodeHarbor the server is provisioned automatically once your order is confirmed.

1. Pick a plan

Choose RAM based on your intended community size and the resources you plan to run. 4–8 GB covers most new servers; you can upgrade later with the difference prorated.

2. Place your order

Confirm your order and payment. Automated provisioning then creates your RedM server — typically within 2–5 minutes of confirmation.

3. Access your panel

You get a NodeHarbor panel with a console, file manager and restart/status controls for the server.

4. Install your framework and resources

  • Upload your framework (e.g. VORP or RedEM) and resources via the file manager.
  • Reference each resource in your server.cfg so RedM loads them.
  • Restart the server from the console and watch the log for errors.

Most setup problems are resource ordering and dependency issues in server.cfg. The console log will name the failing resource — fix one at a time.

Go live

With resources loaded and your server stable, invite players and tune your configs. A clean start with enough RAM avoids painful upgrades later.
