A small RedM roleplay server with a few resources runs on about 4 GB of RAM. A standard community with 32–64 players and a moderate set of resources is comfortable on 8 GB, and larger or heavily customised servers should plan for 12 GB or more.
How RedM uses memory
RedM runs on the RDR2 engine and loads the world, resources (frameworks, jobs, custom maps, vehicles) and player state into memory. Custom maps and vehicle packs are especially memory-hungry. Like FiveM, the more resources and players you add, the more RAM you need.
RAM guidance by community size
| Community | Resources | Recommended RAM |
|---|---|---|
| Small roleplay (up to 24 players) | A few scripts | 4–6 GB |
| Standard roleplay (24–48 players) | Moderate set | 8 GB |
| Large roleplay (48–64 players) | Many resources | 12 GB |
| Heavy custom maps / vehicles | Lots of resources | 12–16 GB+ |
Start right, scale when needed
Starting at 4–8 GB is sensible for most new RedM communities. Watch memory usage in the panel during peak hours, and upgrade when you see sustained pressure — NodeHarbor prorates the difference to your billing cycle.
